La Dolce Vita: Sourcing Treasures in Italy

 

Every year, Italy calls, and we gladly answer. Our adventure always begins in Naples, where warehouse visits, warm reunions with old friends, and the joy of making new connections set the tone for the trip. This year, we spent time with a family of leather sellers spanning three generations—their craftsmanship and passion for their work are woven into every piece they create.

 

Naples is where the magic starts. The city buzzes with energy—vespas zipping past and the hum of lively conversation on every street corner. The wholesalers’ warehouses are where we dive deep, unearthing treasures hidden among racks of garments. Each piece carries a story, and Naples gives us the chance to connect with the people behind those stories. From the seasoned sellers who greet us like family to the new faces we meet, every interaction is a reminder of the dedication behind these finds.

After Naples, we head north to Rome, where the pace slows, but the inspiration flows. Flea markets become our playground, offering a mix of vintage gems and unexpected surprises. We also wander into Rome’s boutiques, marveling at how each space reflects its owner’s vision and creativity. These shops leave us brimming with ideas, inspired by their unique aesthetics and bold styling choices.

A trip to Rome wouldn’t feel complete without our annual pilgrimage to the Vatican to see the Sistine Chapel ceiling. This is a deeply spiritual moment for us—a time to step away from the hustle and embrace the quiet energy of this sacred space. Standing beneath Michelangelo’s masterpiece, we take a moment to reflect, recharge, and draw inspiration from the unparalleled artistry that has captivated visitors for centuries.

And, of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to our favorite pastry shop, Specialty Croissants a hidden gem tucked into a quiet corner of the city. Their flaky croissant, delicate buns, and perfect black coffee powered us through long days of sourcing (and dreaming).

This trip wasn’t just about finding beautiful pieces—it was about the people, the places, and the moments that shape our work. From the bustling warehouses of Naples to the charming flea markets of Rome, we’ve returned with a collection that captures the energy, character, and beauty of Italy.
